Marathon
Location of Start/Finish Line:
The Tyler Rose marathon will start and end in the heart of old downtown
Tyler.
Course Time Limit:
The course will be open for 6 1/2 hours. This allows walkers to
compete at a 15 minute per mile pace. It does not allow for long
stops. We would appreciate all to meet course time limits.

ChronoTrack Timing at the Tyler Rose:
The Tyler Rose will use ChronoTrack timing system, which records
your time precisely from start to finish. Chrontrack is the latest
timing technology. Your timing tag is now disposable and will come
with your bib number when you get your race packet. No more lining
up to get your timing chip race morning, and no waiting to have
your timing chip retrieved at the finish line! Awards will be based
on gun time.
Packet Pickup and Late Registration:
We will have packet pickup at the new Courtyard by Marriott Tyler,
7424 S Broadway 75703 on Friday October 8 from 12 Noon to 6 pm and
on Saturday October 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You will also have
the option of getting your packet race day at the event.
Marathon Finisher Awards:
We are pleased to announce that Chamblee Rose Nurseries of Tyler
will be providing the Tyler Rose our very own 4.5 inch potted Tyler
Rose to plant where you choose. All full marathon finishers will
receive a bag with their plant at the finish line. We have chosen
the
Rise and Shine Yellow Rose as our reward to you! All marathon
finishers will receive a Tyler Rose finisher medal for their efforts
in the finish line area. The medal for our first year is shown below.
In the month after the event each finisher will be emailed a finisher
certificate.

First Class Event T-shirt:
The Tyler Rose will have a first class New Balance short/sleeved
technical t-shirt for all entrants in the marathon.
The Tyler Rose Marathon Age Group Awards:
The top overall and masters male and female will be awarded special
trophies. Awards will be presented to the top three men and women
finishers in each of the following age groups. 24 & under, 25
- 29, 30 - 34, 35 - 39, 40 - 44, 45 - 49, 50 - 54, 55 - 59, 60 -
64, 65-69, 70+.
Enter the Tyler Azalea 10k & the Tyler Rose marathon or
half marathon at the same time and save money!
Planning on running the either the half or marathon in the Tyler
Rose and the Tyler
Azalea 10k in March of 2011? You can save $15 by entering
both at the same time. This makes the entry fee for the Tyler Azalea
10k just $10! This offer is good until October 1, 2010. The discount
cannot be applied to the 2-mile of the Azalea nor the 5k of the
Tyler Rose.
Parking Map
- There should be ample parking for everyone with 3-5 blocks of
the event start/finish line. Make sure you do not park at any church
parking lots and do not park anywhere there may be tow signs.
Showers:
We will have a portable shower truck facility available courtesy
of the Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler. Towels and supplies
are provided so you can clean up after the event should you so desire.
Travel:
Tyler, Texas is located 80 miles east of Dallas, Texas on I-20.
If you are planning to fly to Tyler, American Eagle and Continental
has 10 flights daily to Tyler. When booking a flight make sure you
out your destination as TYR, rather than a connection through
a Texas airport such as DFW. It is more cost effective to do this.
You will need to get a rental car in Tyler. There are no hotels
next to our start/finish line.

Hydration Stations:
We will have 18 aid stations positioned approximately every 1 to
1 1/2 miles.
Medical:
Race day medical services include first aid medical stations with
ambulance service at the start, finish and on the course.
Race Recovery Food Court and Finish Line festival:
The Tyler Rose will host a post-race party in the square in the
Heart of Tyler, which is next to the finish line with plenty of
post race food, liquids & activities.
Boston Qualifier?
Yes.
Entry Requirements:
You must be able to complete the marathon in 6 1/2 hours. Slower
runners and walkers who are not able to keep the respective pace
will be subject to street re-openings/bridge openings and will need
to proceed using sidewalks and road breakdown lanes. The finish
line will remain open for 6 1/2 hours, but you will still receive
your finisher's medal and official finishers certificate.
You must be at least 16 years old to run the Tyler Rose Marathon.
The following are strictly prohibited from the course: baby joggers,
in-line skates, bicycles and any other non-official wheeled vehicles.
